Future-proof entrepreneurship requires transparency, sustainability and social responsibility. With the advent of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), this is becoming increasingly important. We support organizations in translating sustainability ambitions into concrete, measurable and strategic actions, working with you to ensure that your organization is ready for the future.
European legislation
ESG
ESG is a term that is often used to refer to sustainable business practices. ESG stands for Environmental, Social, Governance. These three important themes include:
- Environmental impact: CO2 emissions, energy consumption and waste.
- Social aspects: working conditions and training opportunities.
- Business operations: ethical behaviour, risk management and succession planning.
ESG is becoming increasingly subject to legal obligations, particularly through European regulations such as CSRD.
CSRD and the impact on chain information
The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) requires companies to report ESG data in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). Although listed and large companies are the first to report on sustainability and innovation, other organizations and institutions, such as healthcare organizations, housing associations and small businesses, may also be affected by the CSRD because they are chain partners or suppliers. Sustainability information may be requested on the basis of the VSME Standard. The Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard (VSME) is a voluntary European standard for sustainability reporting for SMEs and small businesses that helps to report sustainability activities in a clear manner. This reporting standard contains far fewer points than the CSRD, making the reporting process simpler and less time-consuming. In this way, companies that are not subject to CSRD requirements can use VSME to meet the information needs of chain partners or suppliers of large companies that are subject to CSRD requirements.
